Meals For Children
The teachers and assistants continued going to the centers even after the curfew was imposed by the government of India due to the second wave of the COVID-19 pandemic. During the curfew the quarry worksites remained open and all the parents were going for work. No classes or activities were conducted during this period but the teachers would prepare food for the children and ensure that every child was provided with one meal a day. The teachers and assistants also ensured that the children remained at or close to their respective homes while their parents were away working
Meals for Brick Factory workers Dependents
The Ashalaya staff had found that because of the COVID-19 pandemic and Government schools remaining closed, many of the children of migrant workers and daily waged labourers were getting involved with child labour or were left unattended to while their parents were at work. Due to this Ashalaya had opened 4 Early Learning centers at hollow brick factories in the month of September 2020. Each of these centers had one teacher and one assistant
No classes or activities were conducted during this period but the teachers would prepare food and ensure that every child was provided with one nutritious meal a day.
